Wellington’s large-scale development began in 1971 and the village incorporated at the end of 1995. Census figures put the median year built at 1995, with only 12 percent of homes older than 1980 and 71 percent single-family detached. Communities such as Palm Beach Polo and Binks Forest sit alongside an Equestrian Preserve of roughly 9,000 acres and more than 580 farms.

No. The High Velocity Hurricane Zone is defined in the Florida Building Code (section 1620) by county and covers Miami-Dade and Broward only. Wellington is in Palm Beach County, so its roofs are permitted under the statewide Florida Building Code as the city administers it. Roofing products still need a Florida Product Approval or a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance.
