The record
What Perkins has given, and to whom
“Giving back” doesn’t tell you much on its own. These are the organizations Perkins has named, the years, and where amounts were published, the amounts.
2018–2019
In its first year in the RCASF Make-A-Wish Corporate Challenge, Perkins raised $5,625 against a $5,000 goal and was recognized as the challenge’s top donor.
2019
Perkins gave a percentage of its September 2019 sales to Convoy of Hope and Samaritan’s Purse for relief in the Bahamas, and team members helped pack and deliver aid supplies.
2019–2021
The Fort Lauderdale no-kill shelter was a Perkins “charity of the month” in 2019. In 2021 Perkins re-roofed the shelter, about 6,200 square feet over two weeks, with suppliers donating or discounting materials.
How it has worked
Tied to the work, done as a team
Most of Perkins’s giving has been linked to the roofing work itself, not run as a separate foundation:
- A share of sales. In the 2018–2019 Make-A-Wish challenge and the September 2019 Dorian drive, Perkins gave part of the value of signed roofing contracts. Tim Kanak, then Vice President, said customers liked knowing that part of their new roof or repair helped a child.
- A charity of the month. In 2019 Perkins described sponsoring a different nonprofit each month. That’s how it first connected with Abandoned Pet Rescue.
- Roofing skills. For the shelter, Perkins gave what a roofer can give: a new roof over hundreds of animals. It worked with suppliers that donated or discounted materials and coordinated around the HVAC, electrical and gas work the roof required.
- Team time. Staff volunteered to pack and deliver Dorian relief supplies.
Perkins has also named Beyond Nine Cat Rescue among the organizations it has supported.

Through the local roofing association
The Make-A-Wish support ran through the Roofing Contractors Association of South Florida (RCASF), which Perkins joined in 2018. The challenge benefited Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, based in Fort Lauderdale, which grants wishes to South Florida children facing life-threatening illnesses. The award at the top of this page is the one Perkins received for that challenge.
