Insulation can obstruct the intended intake path while the exterior vent still looks open. Request attic-side photographs showing baffles, insulation depth and the actual path above exterior walls.
Look from the attic side
An exterior photograph of perforated soffit does not answer whether insulation is packed against the opening inside. Ask the insulation contractor to document the eaves before adding material. Use room names or compass directions to label the images, especially where access is limited. The practical question is whether the intended intake route remains identifiable after the work, not merely whether the soffit looks clean from the driveway.
Coordinate the roofing and insulation scope
If the roofer is changing ventilation while another trade adds insulation, identify who will verify the path at the roof edge. Put that responsibility in writing before either crew arrives. Ask how low-clearance locations will be assessed and what will happen where a usable path cannot be confirmed. An inaccessible corner should appear on the handoff list so the next contractor does not assume someone else checked it.
Document completion before access disappears
Request matching photographs after the insulation is installed, using the same labels as the initial survey. Have the contractor identify baffles that were installed, adjusted or found unsuitable for the conditions. Keep storage and later service work away from the documented path. If concerns remain, ask for an investigation targeted to the affected eave rather than automatically ordering new roof vents. Resolve the intake question before comparing additional exhaust products.
A useful handoff question is whether the insulation installer will return after roofing work changes the eave detail. If the answer is yes, reserve that visit in the schedule. If the answer is no, identify who documents the final condition. Owners should not have to infer completion from the fact that both crews have submitted invoices for their individual tasks.
